Aftermath

It's over! Kind of a let-down after all is said and done. All that anticipation and then - poof! - it's over that fast! In just two hours yesterday, Mom and I had erased all evidence of Christmas, and in another hour, we had all of it packed away in the basement. It's as if it never really happened! It must have been a figment of our imaginations! Bottom line - Christmas just isn't the same without our "babies" around to share it with. We need those little Santa-believers around for the excitement value! I'm not saying we didn't have a wonderful Christmas - we did - absolutely! We did all the usual things - watched too much TV, played cards, ate too much sweet stuff, went to the candlelight service, opened presents, and just plain enjoyed each other's company. It was a really, really good Christmas! But just imagine what it would have been like with the gang from Canada . . .

We miss all of you so very, very much! xxxxxooooo

The tree is up!!

Well, the tree is up! It's huge! It took us most of the afternoon, but Katie, Mom-mom Edna, and I did it. We did have some help from Pop-pop - he had to bring the tree in, straighten it up and put the angel on top. It's so pretty. I'm pulling out all the stops this afternoon. I'm getting out every single decoration we own - or just about - and going for broke! Brian and Allie will be here tonight sometime, and then the house will be almost full. The only ones missing now are Betsy, Shaun and the babies. Maybe next year . . . you never know . . .

Well Christmas is definitely upon us! When did it happen?!? Katie's now enroute to Wilmington Delaware where she'll meet up with Mom-mom Edna. Early tomorrow morning they'll start their trek to Virginia. Brian and Allie will be arriving sometime Sunday night. Can't wait to see them all! Now Christmas will seem real! We'll put a tree up this weekend and do some shopping and baking - then it will truly be Christmas!!! But - we'll still be missing our Canadian children - big and little . . . all the craziness of wrapping paper flying and kids squealing at their "prizes"! Maybe Katie will get a little excited . . . ? Nahhhh, not likely. It'll be a great Christmas all the same. Merry Christmas!
